Proposals are sought that highlight promising practices to help drug endangered children or explore new concepts and enhance knowledge about children, youth, and families who are affected by substance use disorders and involved in the child welfare and justice systems.
Workshop content should be focused on sharing knowledge that improves strategies, collaborative responses, or policy and program development for these children and families. Proposals should be well thought out, well defined, original in thinking, and clearly state the session's learning objectives.
Target Audience:
We anticipate nationwide representation of service providers and professionals, including child welfare providers, substance abuse treatment providers, juvenile and family court judges and attorneys, law enforcement, prosecutors, probation officers, prevention specialists, maternal and child health agencies, physicians, nurses, researchers and evaluators, educators, Tribal communities, community organizations serving youth, and children and adult mental health providers.
Types of Sessions:
Throughout the conference, there will be between 20 to 30 breakout sessions and 4 to 6 plenary sessions. We welcome proposals for panel presentations as well. Sessions may vary somewhat in format and length but, overall, each session will be approximately 90 minutes.
Selection Criteria:
Reviewers will identify whether the topic addresses a current and immediate priority in the field, the topic has wide appeal and interest to the target audience, the information can be easily implemented or transferred into practice, and the presentation discusses or addresses cultural differences.
